Daniel Gene Barlekamp is an internationally published author of fiction, poetry, and audio drama for adults and young readers. His middle-grade ghost story “The Curse of the Cat Man” is featured in Macmillan’s anthology The Haunted States of America, which Kirkus Reviews calls an “entertaining, fright-filled geographical tour” of the United States. His science fiction has received one silver honorable mention and two honorable mentions in the Writers of the Future contest. Daniel’s poetry appears in a variety of respected print and online publications—including Seventh Quarry (Wales), Pictura Journal, and IHRAM Press, among others—and has been translated into Chinese by Poetry Hall.
In addition to writing, Daniel is on the staff of Molecule: A Tiny Lit Mag. He has also served as Fiction Editor for Soundings East, Salem State University’s national literary magazine, and as an advance reviewer for Wrong Publishing. He is an active member of the New England Chapter of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
Daniel earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Ursinus College, a master’s degree in English from the University of Delaware, a graduate certificate in teaching English to speakers of other languages (TESOL) from Salem State University, and a juris doctor from New England Law | Boston. Originally from New Jersey, Daniel now lives with his wife and son in Massachusetts, where he practices U.S. immigration law. He has been a monster kid at heart ever since seeing Dracula (1931) on TV one fateful Halloween night.
